Heel complaints
The main causes of heel complaints or pain in the heel are heel spurs and tendon inflammation.
- Heel spur is a calcification under the heel at the junction of the tendon plate that runs to the forefoot. It causes pain when the heel is put down.
- Tendon inflammation is the result of an overload of the footsole tendon. Pain develops when unwinding the foot. Pain can also arise when standing up. Sometimes a swelling is present or pain may occur when walking longer distances.
Special therapy is required to reduce or eliminate heel complaints. Corrective podiatric footbeds are excellent to aid you with this.
